I had the idea of writing a blog about being consistent and active because I struggle with doing this too. So the purpose of this blog is to not only help you but me as well. So lets get into it.
I am sure we have all read, seen or heard someone say that one of the major tips to becoming “successful” it to be consistent and active? Especially in this day and age where social media is a massive part of any business.
Now this still applys even if your not running or planning on running a business. Lets say your a photographer and you want to post your photos to Instagram, you can either post whenever you want and as often as you want? Or you can post a specific amount of photos weekly and on specific days at specific times. Which method do you think will get more engagement?
It will definitely be the latter option that gets the most engagement. I heard the best analogy about this subject the other day when I was watching one of Peter McKinnon’s YouTube videos. He said that its like watching an episode of game of thrones on a Sunday and then waiting till the next Sunday to watch the next episode but when Sunday rolls around its not on? You would be so annoyed and disappointed that you probably wouldn’t watch it again would you?
The same principles and “rules” apply to anything related to putting content out there for people to consume no matter what form that is or how you disperse that content.
One of the ways you can do this is by creating a schedule/timetable. This as helped me out a lot but I still need to put more emphasis on updating and using it more. Take my blog for example I have them scheduled in to be uploaded at 8pm every Sunday. So anyone who reads my blog and likes it (there must be someone out there right?) knows when to come back to consume the next blog I release. I just need to make and stick to a schedule on all the other platforms I release content. I find it hard to stick to schedules and always have done, the amount of times I have been late for work proves this so don’t think that you cant do this too. If a sloth like me can anyone can?
The last advantage to being consistent and active is for ourselves. It’s so nice when we know exactly what we’ve got to do and when its got to be done by yeah? By setting a schedule and being consistent and active you just get in a routine of doing things which is great and relieves a lot of the unknown and stress and can also stimulate our creative side as we have deadlines to create things by which in itself makes us more create.
So its win win all round?
If you have any more tips on being consistent and active leave them in the comments below so that we can all learn together?
